While brewing a great cup of tea is a simple process requiring relatively few steps, here are a few recommendations to get you started down the right path. Feel free to adjust any of the details to suit your personal preferences.

Always use fresh, cold, pure water: filtered or bottled spring water is recommended.

  • For black tea and herbal infusions, bring water to a boil before steeping
  • For oolong teas, let the water cool one minute after boiling before steeping
  • For green teas, let the water cool down for two minutes after boiling before steeping
Water Temperature and Steeping Times
Use these as targets when brewing loose teas:

If brewed tea is too weak, increase the amount of leaves or the steeping time. If it is too strong or bitter, let water cool after bringing it to a boil before steeping tea or reduce steeping time.

Tea Quantity
Small, compact leaves – 1 slightly rounded spoonful (approx. 2 grams) for every 6 to 8 oz of water
Medium, rolled leaves – 1 heaping spoonful (approx. 2.5 grams) for every 6 to 8 oz of water
Large, airy leaves – 2 slightly rounded spoonfuls (approx. 3 grams) for every 6 to 8 oz of water

Storing Tea
Keep your Allegro Fine Tea away from heat (sunlight and indirect heat such as stoves or microwaves), light (artificial or sun), and moisture (close container after each use). Store teas in a cool, dark place such as a cupboard, away from the coffee and spices. Tea should never be refrigerated to avoid moisture and odor contamination.
